Title: Women
Artist Statement:
My inspiration for this piece is the emotion on the women's face in the picture. Also the image didn't look to difficult but able for me to draw.
The process I used began with drawing a grid then roughly sketching the face. Then the process continued with adding different values and ended with smoothing out the lines with a cotton ball.
Title: Serenity
Artist Statement:
My inspiration for this piece is the calmness that showed through the image. The hints of yellow and red hidden in the piece were beautiful.
The process I used began with sketching out my piece, applying masking tape, and then using light washes of color to do the background. Next I used both the wet on wet and wet on dry technique to add value and details to the foreground.
Title: Time
Artist Statement:
My inspiration for this piece is the clock in my bedroom as it is one of my favorite decorations. Also when I took a picture of the clock the light hit it and it looked good to draw.
The process I used started with taking a picture of the clock them roughly sketching four drawings then picking out one for the final piece. Then I drew the final project using lines to add contrast and make it look realistic.
Title: Courtyard
Artist Statement:
My inspiration for this piece was a picture of an Italian court yard I found and I thought it was pretty so I looked up other examples. The arches, closeness of the buildings, with the stairs looked good together.
The process I used began with drawing the image and transferring it onto a canvas were I painted the background. Next I added the short small strokes to portray impressionism and added small details last.
Title: Konaloa

Title: Brunch
Artist Statement:
To create my piece oil pastels were used which helped me get the smooth texture needed for my piece. I used a series of different blending techniques such as heavy blending and light blending. At the end a blending stump was used to smooth our sedges and get sharp lines.
The inspiration for my piece was that I wanted something easy and soothing to look at. This piece was easy on the eyes with its soft colors and smooth textures.
My goals for this piece was to learn how to use oil pastels and how to apply it to paper. Also I was striving to make it look at realistic as possible. I did reach my goals as I learned how to use different textures and blending techniques which furthered my skills on oil pastels and that helped the piece look realistic.
I learned a lot on how to use oil pastels and how to use new techniques with this media. I also learned different texture styles and how to make oil pastels look like an oil painting. This piece is what I had imagined because the composition of the piece with the shadows and highlights made with the pastels brings it to life. This piece will influence my future artwork because now I know ho to use pastels and I know new techniques I can apply to future art.
Title: Perspective
Artist Statement:
My art piece is called Perspective and is made of thick wire and wood. The is piece shows the back of a women with her head tilted to the left. Wires are bent to show her back and outline the shadows on her. The bending of the thick wire on the body emphasizes the lines and shadows.
My piece is made of 16 gage metal wire and a slab of wood. The process I used to create this piece began with drawing a large sketch of the sculpture. Then measuring out the wire to match the length of the sketch and using large pliers to cut it. Next I bent the wire to show the curves of the back and shadows. Lastly I welded the metal pieces together, drilled holes in the spray painted wood, and put the wire in the wood.
What inspired my art work was a picture I found of a women's back and then I decided to add my own style to it. My work is trying to show how perspective or how people see things is important. When you look at the piece you can either see a women facing away or random wire. You can either see nothing or make something out of the nothing.
My goal in making this piece was to learn how to use a different kind of media and be comfortable with it. I did reach this goal as I finished a piece using wire and in the end was comfortable in using it to make art.
I learned many things while making this such as how to weld metal together and what tools can manipulate wire. This is the final piece I imagined as it looks like my sketch and has the style I wanted it to look like. This piece will influence my future art because I will now make other art using this media.

This piece is made from prisma color pencils. When creating my piece I started by sketching it our then choosing the colors I wanted to use. Next I started adding color to the big sections of the piece with small strokes. Then layering color to the small sections and lastly added the small details.
What inspired my art work was a class Coke bottle I have sitting on my book shelf in my room. When the light hit it I was inspired to draw it. My work does not express a social or personal issue, but it does show tranquil emotions.
My goals in this piece was to learn how to use a new form of media and by the end of my piece I could successfully use it. This piece did hep me each my goals as I learned how to use prisma colors and learned new techniques.
What I learned in creating this piece is that you can blend colors together to make transitioning from color to color smooth. This piece is exactly how I imagined I to be as it depicts the picture it was based on. This piece will influence my future art work because I can use the new techniques on future pieces.
